When traditional construction ventures into the future

Respecting the building traditions of the area was a priority throughout the process. To maintain this identity, materials and finishes in line with the region's traditional crafts—stonemasonry and carpentry—were used. The outcome of the project designed by LÓPEZ y NOYA arquitectura y urbanismo is immediately apparent. Its exterior entices, but its interior embraces. Because the team at Desarrolla Obras y Servicios had one very clear objective: to construct a welcoming single-family home.On this path, the chosen color palette plays a decisive role. The use of neutral tones has been favored, which contributes to the creation of pleasant spaces. This sensation has been amplified thanks to the warmth that is characteristic of wood, so distinctive of traditional construction. Bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchen, living room… Every room features elements in this material, which grants it an undeniable prominence within the project.Nevertheless, the residence features details in black and dark gray scattered throughout various rooms, which contributes to adding a touch of sophistication.

Light and Traditional Construction

Regarding the layout, there are spaces within the house that are strikingly captivating. Perhaps the most significant is the living room, which offers a vast expanse to enhance the freedom of movement. It is a space where every detail has been meticulously attended to, such as the presence of natural light, for instance, which is accentuated by the large windows.Another dominant feature of the project is the ceiling height. In some of the rooms, the beams have been left exposed, creating a striking effect that catches the visitor's attention.Beyond the commitment to traditional construction, the truth is that the design is modern and prioritizes aspects such as functionality. The garage, extremely spacious, is proof of this. In addition, surrounding the house is a garden that delights the residents, which can be accessed through a porch.

A robust framework

To carry out the construction of this single-family home in Ourense, a series of preliminary actions were necessary. Thus, a thorough cleaning of the land was executed, after which the topsoil was removed in the area where the house was erected. The structure is primarily composed of two materials: reinforced concrete and wood. The roof was constructed using curved ceramic tiles, anchored with hooks on corrugated fiber cement sheets. The facade is made of local stone, in harmony with the surroundings. In this way, this single-family home in Ourense retains the area's aesthetic and engages in dialogue with the neighboring buildings.

Premium materials and traditional construction

The external carpentry is made of lacquered aluminum with thermal break and high-performance glazing to enhance the home's energy efficiency.

The interior carpentry is made of oak wood, featuring smooth passage doors. Once again, red pine was used for the door frames. The interior partitioning of this single-family home in Ourense consists of double hollow brick, laid with cement mortar and river sand.

The property also features a home automation system throughout its rooms, controlling the air conditioning, lighting, blinds, garden irrigation, and the surveillance system. Solar panels have been installed on the roof of the house, which, together with the aerothermal heating system with underfloor heating, provide our clients with a building that has almost zero electrical energy consumption.

In the mosaic, each tessera is essential, no matter how small. The same is true for this single-family home in Ourense. Every detail has been meticulously attended to, even the most insignificant ones, such as the stone pathway, the columns supporting the roof, or the chrome faucets in the bathrooms.

Ultimately, a home that draws from the past to move towards the future.

An exciting project that we have enjoyed executing. Therefore, we do not want to miss the opportunity to thank the trust placed in us by both the developers of the work and the architectural studio that designed it.
