VIGO WELCOMES ‘YAKINIKU’ CUISINE WITH DESARROLLA

Desarrolla has carried out the full refurbishment of the new premises on Canceleiro Street, where the Rokuseki restaurant has reopened its doors, previously located in the Urban Market of Mercado del Progreso (Vigo). The establishment, designed by Modular Arquitectura, features a continuous bar area in pure Japanese style, a private dining room, the kitchen, and the restrooms.
Rokuseki, which means six seats—a name inspired by its first restaurant, which featured only a counter and six chairs and opened in 2017 in the popular Mercado del Progreso—is the first and only yakiniku-style gastronomic venue (a Japanese term referring to grilled meat) in Galicia. This is welcome news for those who think a Japanese restaurant is synonymous with raw fish and nothing more, and it is one of the few establishments of this kind to be found in Spain, where guests can enjoy the hypnotic smoke of wagyu beef over the coals.Among the works carried out by Desarrolla, the combination of rolled steel stands out, with particular emphasis on the clad pillars, as well as the carefully executed microcement flooring, playing with several combinations, and Osaka paint on the walls. As for the finishes, the Viroc on the façade is combined with ash wood trims featured on the counter. The furniture has been designed specifically for the venue, with finishes in natural slate blocks. The high-performance insulation, combined with the Heradesign-style aesthetic of the suspended ceiling, lends character to the dining area.

The restaurant, equipped with grills for preparing meats, features a distinctive, high‑performance extraction system, as well as meticulously designed lighting based on LED points that define the continuous countertop areas, evoking a bar.Through all these interventions, the space has been given an aesthetic that creates a homely atmosphere—an emblem of Japanese culture—allowing guests to enjoy a subtle sense of nostalgia in each of the small details that shape the environment.
