La calle de la Estrella in A Coruña, one of the city’s most vibrant gastronomic hubs, has just witnessed the arrival of a new space that preserves the same flavour and essence as always, but now expressed on a very different scale. The new A Mundiña premises is an ambitious project in both form and substance, brought to life by the teams at Desarrolla Obras y Servicios.With more than 400 square metres distributed between the ground floor and basement, the project designed by Santomé Estudio Creativo has succeeded in increasing the restaurant’s capacity to 120 diners, more than double that of its predecessor.The new establishment —located at number 15 on the same street where it grew for almost two decades— successfully meets a comprehensive brief: to increase capacity, optimise internal operations and maintain the identity that has made A Mundiña a local icon. The spearhead of a benchmark in hospitality and gastronomy in northern Spain: the Grupo Amicalia.

A Mundiña, a renovation with soul

The project involved a complete interior refurbishment of the premises, updating all the functional and aesthetic elements required for its new use. The work focused on a strategic redistribution of the space, especially in the ground-floor restroom area, as well as the full renovation of finishes, flooring, interior carpentry, and building services.The extension has succeeded in refreshing and updating the aesthetic and functional concept of A Mundiña by reinterpreting the spaces while preserving their structural essence. In this way, the contemporary, warm, and functional atmosphere that has defined the brand’s value proposition for years has been maintained.

Materials, finishes, and comfort: excellence as standard

As for the finishes, porcelain stoneware flooring has been used on the ground floor, ideal for its durability and elegance, while the basement has been clad with continuous microcement, providing visual unity and long‑lasting performance. The vertical surfaces have been treated with a carefully curated combination of wood panelling, smooth plastic paint and ceramic tiling, enhancing the welcoming and sophisticated character of the space.The choice of interior joinery in chipboard with a natural wood finish, flush doors and oversized trims responds to both aesthetic and functional criteria, in line with the tavern’s brand image. The Desarrolla teams have also completely renewed the electrical, plumbing and environmental conditioning systems, ensuring energy efficiency, health and safety, and proper waste management.

MORE SPACE, MORE POSSIBILITIES

The new proposal for A Mundiña can accommodate 120 diners, almost twice as many as its predecessor, including a separate dining room for 50 people on the ground floor. It also incorporates new areas such as an upgraded wine cellar, an outdoor terrace and enhanced service areas, consolidating its position as one of the city’s major gastronomic ventures.Ultimately, this is a project whose execution we have thoroughly enjoyed, and we would like to express our gratitude for the trust placed in our work by Grupo Amicalia.Visit us at the headquarters of the construction company in A Coruña.
