DESARROLLA’S TEAMS COMPLETE THE CONSTRUCTION OF CHOCK, THE SPECTACULAR PASTRY AND CHOCOLATE BOUTIQUE LOCATED IN THE HEART OF A CORUÑA

For decades, La Calle Real in A Coruña has been one of the city’s leading commercial showcases. In the stone that runs along it, traces of the past merge with the vitality of the present, in a constant rhythm that defines the identity of this iconic thoroughfare. In this privileged setting now stands a project that perfectly embodies this dialogue between heritage and modernity: the restoration and transformation of a landmark premises, the former Joyería Salamanca, now converted into Chök, a beautiful retail space specializing in pastries and chocolates.
The exquisite project designed by the studio Situacións Construidas and carried out by our teams has involved much more than a simple fit-out.
The aim of the project was to revitalize a premises located within a listed building. Restoring its former splendor, preserving its historic essence, and adapting it to the demands of a contemporary business.
A refined, enduring intervention in which the architectural memory of the place and the new brand identity are seamlessly interwoven.

One of the most distinctive features of the new Chöck has been the restoration of the original façade, which forms part of the city’s architectural heritage. The marble framing the entrance, with its patina of time, has been cleaned and repaired without altering its original pieces, so it preserves the noble traces of history.
The moldings have regained their aesthetic impact, while the shop window has preserved its original volume and structure. Only new safety glass and updated paneling have been incorporated in an elegant off‑white tone.
The most symbolic gesture, however, is embodied by the brass channel letters that for decades identified Joyería Salamanca. Desarrolla has restored them and placed them back in their original location, giving the new premises a unique character that pays tribute to the past while embracing the freshness of its new activity. It is, ultimately, a nod to collective memory that connects generations.

While the exterior conveys respect and continuity, the interior of the premises has been conceived as a fully renovated, highly functional space. A new identity designed to embrace the activity of Chök in all its potential.
The intervention involved removing outdated flooring and leveling the ground to give the space the necessary uniformity. The new ceramic cladding, in a sober and elegant gray, lends character and enhances the sense of order and cleanliness.
The suspended ceilings, worn and inconsistent after decades of alterations, have been replaced with solutions that enable a clearer division of spaces. This equipment also ensures fire protection for the wooden floor slabs above.
This technical renovation of the building has been complemented by a comprehensive aesthetic treatment. The walls, enamelled all the way up to the ceiling, bring brightness and visual continuity. Meanwhile, the junctions between floors and walls have been finished with meticulous care to achieve a precise, refined result.
The furnishings specific to the activity and the layout of the space reinforce the idea of a venue conceived as a unified whole, free from excess and unnecessary partitions. The resulting atmosphere at Chöck combines the purity of modern lines with the warmth of the materials, creating an inviting setting that encourages visitors to discover the brand’s concept.
