Time is relentless. Not only with people, but also with the heritage that surrounds us. Taking care of it is everyone's duty. And that's exactly what Desarrolla Obras y Servicios has just accomplished by completing the restoration of the Castillo de San Felipe, located in the estuary of Ferrol, a spectacular fortress built in the mid-16th century by Philip II.

La obra de la que Desarrolla resultó adjudicataria hace unos meses cuenta con financiación del 1,5% cultural del Ministerio de Transportes y las aportaciones del Concello de Ferrol.The restoration of the San Felipe Castle has enabled the recovery of the fortress's stone roofs. This critical intervention will henceforth prevent the leakages that the architectural complex was experiencing.The first step to expand the uses of the castle, a long-standing social aspiration that can now be realized. Classified as a Cultural Heritage site, the project we have carried out began with an archaeological study that ensured the preservation of a heritage of great historical and architectural value.In the first phase of the construction, conditioning work such as the manual cleaning of all the stonework and plastering, the removal of the biogenic crust that affected some parts of the castle, and the manual dismantling of stone walls were completed.The demolition of the tiled surfaces or the removal of the granite masonry were among the actions taken in the first stage.
