To evolve, to drive change, is almost always a way of making progress. In the field of public infrastructure, improvement almost always comes from what is new, and far less often from that transformative drive. Yet when this approach is embraced, the result is uniquely enriching. And that is precisely what has just become a reality with the project for the new music school of Santa Eulària, in Ibiza.
DESARROLLA TRANSFORMS PREMISES ORIGINALLY DESIGNED FOR LEISURE USE INTO THE NEW MUSIC SCHOOL OF SANTA EULÀRIA DES RIU, IN IBIZA
To evolve, to drive change, is almost always a way of making progress. In the field of public infrastructure, improvement almost always comes from what is new, and far less often from that transformative drive. Yet when this approach is embraced, the result is uniquely enriching. And that is precisely what has just become a reality with the new music school of Santa Eulària in Ibiza.A few months ago, the City Council of this beautiful town on the eastern side of the island made a decision focused on the common good: to transform premises originally conceived for leisure activities, and currently standing empty, into the Santa Eulària music school.The premises are located beneath the square between Margarita Ankermann Street and Camino de la Iglesia. Desarrolla Obras y Servicios secured the contract for a project whose sole objective was the radical transformation of these spaces to create a facility at the service of all the residents of the island municipality.To achieve this, our teams carried out the project designed by Jon Martínez Arquitectos. A construction process that began with demolition work across the entire intervention area.
From that point on, the work plan implemented by the City Council and the architect at the Santa Eulària music school has led to a complete transformation:Leveling, formwork and concreting, welding works, thermal insulation and waterproofing… As well as roofing works, masonry and finishes, tiling, climate control, replacement of windows and railings, electricity, lighting, installation of furniture…
All of this comes together to bring to life a brief that, from a technical standpoint, entails a number of specific requirements. For example, the installation of suspended false ceilings in the school’s classrooms, built with thermo-acoustic insulating panels made of wood fibers and cement-bonded particleboard.This is an area in which Desarrolla has built up extensive expertise over the past few years. Not only with the new music school in Santa Eulària, but also with the escuela de música de Manilva, among other projects.In the case of the project on the island of Ibiza, the brief carried out by the Desarrolla teams has enabled the center to implement a comprehensive curriculum and activity plan. The escuela de música de Santa Eulària already has seven rehearsal rooms, a percussion classroom, two large multipurpose classrooms, a sound library, four offices, and two restroom cores.All of this, moreover, in an open setting that has been significantly enhanced from an aesthetic point of view. And although it is located on a ground floor, the school benefits from a large interior courtyard, open as a skylight, flooding the building—conceived for creativity, culture, and art—with natural light.In short, a major public facility whose delivery is a particular source of pride for us.Visit us at the constructora en Ibiza headquarters.
