THE PROJECT RENOVATES THE UNDERGROUND MARÍA PITA TUNNEL IN A CORUÑA, UPGRADING ITS FACILITIES AND ENHANCING ITS SAFETY, FUNCTIONALITY, AND AESTHETICS
Refurbishment and remodeling of the underground vehicle tunnel at María Pita, in A Coruña. The work involved renewing all installations and creating a new envelope in harmony with the city’s latest urban design.
All existing curbs and sidewalks were demolished, followed by the construction of exposed-finish reinforced concrete upstand walls. From these, glazed panels fixed on battens to the vertical surfaces rise up, and in a glossy white finish they define the new aesthetic of the tunnel.
