DESARROLLA OBRAS Y SERVICIOS COMPLETES THE EXPANSION OF THE SANTA ÚRSULA SOCIO-HEALTHCARE CENTER, LOCATED IN TENERIFE

More comfort and a leisure area open to the Atlantic. Desarrolla Obras y Servicios has just completed the extension of the Santa Úrsula social and healthcare center. A public facility of enormous social value on the island, thanks to its capacity to serve older people both in the residential home and in the day center. The project promoted by the Cabildo de Tenerife, through the Instituto de Atención Social y Sociosanitaria (IASS), has focused on facilities covering more than 700 square meters. A project with a clear main goal: increasing the number of residential care places from 60 to a total of 85.To make this expansion a reality, the teams at Desarrolla Obras y Servicios have concentrated their efforts on the semi-basement floor of the building. Divided into three volumes, two of them barely contained any kind of facilities. The blocks were completely open-plan and even had exposed natural earth floors. After the refurbishment, the look and feel have been transformed completely. In the east block, with 335 square meters, nine rooms have been created, eight double and one single. In total, 17 new places for older people have been created in this area.

In the west wing, the work carried out has been similar, although with some variations. Four double rooms have been built, completing the 25 new places for seniors. At the same time, Desarrolla has fitted out two geriatric bathrooms, an area for storing wheelchairs, and a large space that will serve as both living room and dining room. Finally, in the central block of the semi-basement floor, a layout similar to the original has been maintained, but with a very significant change. The partition wall that connected this area with the east wing has been demolished in order to enlarge the living room and open it up to the sea.

This semi-basement floor offers impressive sea views and an open area that has been completely transformed. With what purpose? Primarily, to provide the residents of the centro sociosanitario de Santa Úrsula with an outdoor leisure space. The importance of this facility is reflected in recent statements by prominent Canarian leaders. Over the past few days, all of them have highlighted the significance of the extension of the centro sociosanitario de Santa Úrsula. The president of the Cabildo de Tenerife, Pedro Martín, emphasized during a recent visit to the building that “with the new facilities, we have gained in space and comfort so that older people can enjoy not only a personal area, but also a space for leisure and social interaction.”Ultimately, this is a project in the service of the common good, whose execution has been especially rewarding for the teams at Desarrolla Obras y Servicios.Visit us at the headquarters of the constructora en Tenerife.
