DESARROLLA OBRAS Y SERVICIOS AWARDED CONTRACT TO EXPAND AND MODERNIZE THE MANILVA MUNICIPAL SCHOOL OF MUSIC
A music school. And now, also, a dance school. Desarrolla Obras y Servicios has just completed the project to extend and modernise the Municipal School of Music of the Manilva Town Council. The new facility is set to further energise the everyday life of this town in Málaga.The building that houses the music school also accommodates, distributed across different floors and volumes, other municipal services. The Local Police, Fire Brigade, Revenue Board, the municipal Plenary Hall, the Urban Planning Department and the offices of Manilva Radio Television all have premises within this public complex. A complex that is rounded off with a public car park.All of these facilities have gained in functionality and design thanks to the construction works. Indeed, part of the materials used in the original building had been worn down over time and were in need of an upgrade such as the one carried out by our teams.
Desarrolla has renovated and modernised all the façades and roofs of the various organisations and entities located there. It has also created a unified aesthetic and installed state-of-the-art equipment to optimise energy performance.At the same time, ventilated façades finished with composite panels have been installed. This is a lightweight material, resistant to weathering, ageing and corrosion. For the roofs, a lightweight roofing system was chosen to waterproof the entire complex of buildings while creating an image that is in tune with the present day.As for the central element of the project, the refurbishment of the music school in Manilva has been, in part, the result of several longstanding requests. Among them, the inclusion of dance as a discipline in the school’s programme, as well as the need to enlarge the music rehearsal room.The Department of Culture was receptive to all these issues, which is why it promoted, at the time, the tender process in which Desarrolla Obras y Servicios was awarded the contract.
A TWO-LEVEL MUSIC SCHOOL
Desarrolla has addressed both needs by working on the two floors of the music school. On the ground floor, a rehearsal room for dance has been put into operation, while on the first floor a rehearsal classroom has been built for the music band.At the same time, the layouts have been redesigned to create a greater sense of space in the teachers’ room on the upper floor, and a new entrance and reception area has been created on the lower level.The project has also included additional work that further enhances user comfort throughout the centre. In this way, the extension works have been used to optimise the energy performance of the facilities. How? By modernising the HVAC, electrical, lighting and network connection systems.In total, Desarrolla has extended the two floors of the centre to reach a total area of almost 700 square metres, incorporating all kinds of facilities. Group and individual classrooms, a main hall for band rehearsals, multipurpose rooms, changing rooms, main dance hall, reception, teachers’ room…The music school of Manilva, now also a dance school, looks to the future with a smile.Visit us at our headquarters in Málaga.
