DESARROLLA COMPLETES THE RENOVATION AND EXPANSION OF A BUILDING LOCATED IN THE HEART OF THE HERCULINE CAPITAL, TRANSFORMING IT INTO SIX MODERN INDUSTRIAL-STYLE HOMES
Playing with materials, textures, and even with the classical architecture of a place calls for knowledge and taste. A great deal of taste. Completely transforming an environment to modernize it and make it fully functional adds an even more radical element to the equation. And that is precisely what we have just done in a building with an industrial feel located in the heart of A Coruña.The teams at Desarrolla Obras y Servicios have just refurbished and extended a central property on Médico Rodríguez Street. The project has significantly improved the accessibility and livability of the entire building.
And it has done so starting from a project, the one designed by SAestudio, which is pure originality. A creation that is all about fusion. Cutting-edge elements combined with classic materials, nods to the city’s traditional architecture… A delight for the senses.This building with an industrial feel now features a commercial unit on the ground floor and six residences on the upper levels. The first four are on the floors of the property that have been refurbished, and the remaining two are on the two newly added storeys
A BUILDING WITH AN INDUSTRIAL SPIRIT IN THE HEART OF A CORUÑA
In total, the Desarrolla teams have worked on more than 700 square metres of built area to completely transform the building. To reinvent it and bring it into the present with a contemporary aesthetic sensibility, and of course to equip it with every necessary service.The interplay of materials has given each unit, each floor, its own distinctive identity. A unique character. Polished concrete floors, timber beams, bespoke joinery… Pure originality.An originality that emerges in several of the rooms from the bold combination of materials. Concrete walls connected to stone walls, original white galleries (so characteristic of the architecture of A Coruña) fused with stone and concrete, an industrial-style roof with exposed beams… A building with an industrial feel that, through subtle design gestures, manages to connect with a past that deserves to be remembered.The brief defined by the project developer and the architect leaves nothing to chance. With floor areas ranging from 80 to almost 140 square metres, the six homes are fully equipped.The four refurbished apartments, in fact, feature a living-dining room, two bedrooms with walk-in wardrobes, bathroom… The first-floor unit even has a terrace overlooking the building’s inner courtyard. Meanwhile, the two apartments extended on the fifth and sixth floors have been built to a very similar brief.Ultimately, a building with an industrial feel that we have been delighted to construct, and for which we would like to express our gratitude for the trust placed in us by both the project developer and the architect.
