THE PROJECT REFURBISHES THE FORMER MILITARY GOVERNMENT BUILDING FOR USE AS A CIVIC CENTER, ENHANCING ITS ACCESSIBILITY, FUNCTIONALITY, AND INTERIOR SPACES

The work carried out in the former Military Government building has consisted of the refurbishment of 897.55 m² out of a total built area of 3,800 m², representing one third of the entire property, which will be used as a Civic Center.

The main areas of action have focused on the improvement of accessibility to the center via Veeduría Street, the refurbishment of the timber joinery, the restoration of the original structure, the extension of the main staircase that connected the ground and first floors to facilitate access to the second floor, the installation of a panoramic elevator in the inner courtyard, which has also been restored, and the provision of new electrical, heating, plumbing, and fire protection systems.

The renovation has focused primarily on the enhancement of the existing space, the lighting through the interior courtyard, combining white and glass, and the improvement of accessibility, safety, stability, and functionality.
