DESARROLLA COMPLETES THE CONSERVATION AND ACCESSIBILITY PROJECT FOR NARAÍO CASTLE. ACCESSIBILITY WORKS TO DISCOVER AND ENJOY GALICIAN MEDIEVAL HERITAGE

Today, the fortress is owned by the Fundación Casa de Alba, which has granted its usufruct to the local council where it is located, the San Saturniño council. This construction, laid out as an irregular 12‑sided polygon, is a clear example of a Castillo Roqueño, typical of the Galician landscape.
The project has mainly focused on improving accessibility to the Castle and its surroundings. To achieve this, we have installed a new staircase at the main entrance from the road. We have also upgraded the access paths, which were in a hazardous condition due to their steep gradients and uneven surfaces.

Inside, accessibility along all routes has been enhanced thanks to the railings and protective elements installed, as well as the targeted structural reinforcements we have carried out at different points of the building. Using metal reticular structures, the deficiencies caused by the passage of time have been resolved without disturbing the original aesthetics of the construction.
Without a doubt, the main intervention has been the one carried out on the Keep, both for its significance in this type of construction and because visitors can now access the highest point of the Castle, which represents a major tourist and cultural attraction.
