COMPREHENSIVE RENOVATION OF A HISTORIC 1915 SINGLE-FAMILY HOME ON BAILÉN STREET IN A CORUÑA, TRANSFORMED INTO A MODERN INDUSTRIAL-STYLE SPACE

We have completed a three-storey single-family home, born from the full refurbishment of a historic building. The interior of this respectful intervention breathes an industrial character, conveyed through the diversity of materials and the way they are combined in its design. The elegance of white takes center stage in the space and, together with the interplay of iron, wood, and glass used in the interior staircase, creates a contemporary atmosphere that breaks away from the traditional feel of common elements. It also succeeds in carrying natural light from one floor to the next.
The spaces resulting from the refurbishment are of a contemporary character, featuring white lacquered carpentry, full-height wardrobes, and wide-plank wood flooring. In the bathrooms and guest toilets, vinyl flooring is once again combined with marble. In addition, a play of spaces is created through floor-to-ceiling mirrors which, beyond enhancing the sense of spaciousness, lend personality to the environment. The project, carried out by the architects José Manuel Alonso, Roberto Costas and Belén Domínguez, has at all times preserved the traditional elements of the original building, using, for example, silicate-based paints to promote the breathability of the stone façades. The building, constructed in 1915, is framed within the Historic Complex of A Coruña.
