SCULPTURAL EMBANKMENT
THE PROJECT REHABILITATES THE SLOPE BETWEEN AVENIDA DE ARTEIXO AND SANTA MARGARITA PARK IN A CORUÑA, ENHANCING ITS ACCESSIBILITY, PRESERVATION, AND LANDSCAPED ENVIRONMENT
Rehabilitation work has been carried out on the slope between Avda. Arteixo and Parque de Santa Margarita, in the city of A Coruña, all in accordance with the design by Manuel Gallego Jorreto Arquitectos Asociados, S.L.P and the architect Pablo Gallego Picard.To begin the works, a scaffold was installed to ensure pedestrian access without at any time interfering with street traffic. Once in place, excavation was carried out at the top of the slope, along with the construction of a paved pedestrian path to facilitate future interventions, as well as the preservation of the vegetation and the collection of rainwater.
A renewed space
On the mural by the artist Leopoldo Nóvoa, pressure washing was carried out, carefully adjusting the intensity at all times to suit each of the materials. Afterwards, various herbicidal and fungicidal treatments were applied to ensure its preservation.The replacement of materials such as ceramics, quartz, and slate involved highly complex work, for which every effort was made to collaborate with the mural’s original suppliers. In addition, a section that had been demolished during the construction of the pedestrian walkway built years ago was reconstructed.
LANDSCAPED AREA
To complete this work, at the top of the slope, a low-impact landscaped area was created above the mural.The work was carried out by Desarrolla within a period of one and a half months.
