SAN LÁZARO BUILDING
COMPREHENSIVE RENOVATION OF AN ICONIC TWELVE-HOME BUILDING LOCATED IN PARQUE DE SAN LÁZARO, IN THE HEART OF OURENSE
The restoration of this protected property has been carried out in accordance with the design by the architects Alfredo Freixedo and Pedro Diéguez, preserving its distinctive main stone façade.This required shoring up the façade in order to demolish the building’s interior, using a staged excavation system (bataches) for the basement and constructing new lightweight hollow-block concrete floor slabs.
Inside, the essence of the original building has been preserved by using top-quality materials and installations. The homes feature generous spaces filled with carefully considered details, such as full-height, designer interior carpentry or skirting boards flush with the wall, and premium materials like natural wood flooring.As for the installations, it is worth highlighting the climate control of the homes through underfloor heating powered by an aerothermal heat pump, and the meticulous lighting of the spaces with a bespoke design.
